Editorial Portrait Session in Istanbul

Slow morning walk through Istanbul with a fellow photographer, creating timeless portraits inspired by fashion editorials and the city’s atmosphere.

When two photographers travel to the same city, it’s hard not to start looking at every street as a potential backdrop.

Kamilla and I met early in the morning near Taksim, grabbed coffee and spent the next two hours simply wandering through Istanbul. No strict route, no rush—just beautiful light, quiet streets and a shared love for fashion-inspired photography.

Before the session, we planned a soft colour palette with white, beige and light blue tones so that every location would feel timeless rather than trendy.

About the session

  • Location: Historic streets near Taksim, Istanbul
  • Time: Around 9:00 AM
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Style: Editorial portrait photography
  • Outfit palette: White, beige and soft blue

Favourite memories

We spent almost as much time greeting neighbourhood cats as taking photographs. Between beautiful streets, coffee stops and plenty of laughter, the morning felt more like exploring the city with a friend than working on a photoshoot.

Why we chose the morning?

Early morning gave us soft light, quieter streets and a chance to enjoy Istanbul before it became crowded.

Styling

Neutral colours such as white, beige and light blue complemented the warm tones of Istanbul’s historic architecture without distracting from the portraits.
