Planning the session
The couple had recently got married and came to Athens from Poland for their honeymoon.
The city already had a special meaning for them: two years earlier, her husband had proposed to her there. They wanted photographs that would combine the atmosphere of the old city with beautiful views of the Acropolis.
Before their arrival, her husband contacted me and we planned the route, timing, outfit colours and footwear together.
Walk through Athens
Couple didn't know the city well, so we chose a route that would allow them to enjoy Athens while taking photographs along the way.
We met near Acropolis metro station and continued through the historic centre towards Anafiotika and Philopappos Hill.
Since the route includes an uphill walk, we also discussed comfortable shoes in advance. High heels would have made this part of the session unnecessarily difficult.
Natural moments along the way
I guided the session with simple prompts rather than complicated poses: holding hands, looking at each other, walking together and embracing.
This gave the couple something natural to do while keeping the photographs connected to the atmosphere of the city and to their relationship
How did we plan this photoshoot?
The couple contacted me before arriving in Athens while planning their honeymoon. We discussed the atmosphere they wanted, chose the locations together and planned a walking route that combined the charming streets of Anafiotika with panoramic views from Philopappos Hill.
How did we choose the outfits?
Before the session, I sent outfit recommendations to help the couple create a timeless and cohesive look. Neutral colours and natural fabrics work beautifully against the white houses of Anafiotika and the warm stone of Athens.
Is the walk difficult?
Most of the route is an easy walk through the old streets of Anafiotika. The final part of the session takes place on Philopappos Hill, which requires a short uphill walk. It’s not technical, but in summer it can feel quite warm, so comfortable shoes and a bottle of water are always a good idea.
What is the best time for this route?
During the summer, I usually recommend starting around 7:30–8:00 pm. The softer evening light makes walking more comfortable, Anafiotika becomes quieter, and the session naturally finishes at Philopappos Hill around sunset.
We feel awkward in front of the camera. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most of my clients tell me exactly the same thing before the session. We simply start walking and talking instead of posing straight away. Within a few minutes, people usually relax, and the photographs become much more natural.
